About Broughty Castle

Originally built in the late 15th century, Broughty Castle was adapted through the centuries to meet the nation's changing defence needs. The castle has stunning views over the Tay. Good views of Monifieth Bay, important for wintering wildfowl. The firth holds the United Kingdom's largest number of eider duck. Dolphins can occasionally be seen at the firth.
